The site was bought by Mitcham Woodcraft Folk in 1986 after several years of fundraising efforts including jumble sales, stalls and local fetes. After Mitcham WF’s last group closed, ex member Graham Ruse continued to run the site for WF groups for several years. A new management committee, consisting of multi-district Woodcraft members, has now taken over the running of the site.
Future Plans
The site now requires key improvements. A derelict building has already been removed. Further plans include: construction of a hardcore track and parking to improve site access, installation of composting toilets, replacing fencing, and ongoing tree maintenance. Plans will be undertaken in phases over 3 years.
